About the Area
The Smoky River region is situated in north western Alberta and takes up nearly 1 000 000 acres with approximately 4492 people living within its boundaries. This area is characterized by a rich Francophone culture and strong agricultural roots. Both the Little Smoky River and the Big Smoky River cross into the region, offering great opportunities for fishing, hunting, jet boating, camping, and seeing wildlife.

Communities
Within the boundaries of the MD of Smoky River no.130, there are two towns, two villages, and two hamlets. In addition, there are several campgrounds, making it a great place to relax and escape the noise of the city. Despite its small size and low population density, the Smoky River region is buzzing with life. There is a great diversity of activities for people to enjoy and many fun events going on throughout the year.
