Welcome to the

Smoky River Region

Discover a New Frontier

Despite the size of the region, there are multiple establishments providing lodging and accommodations to visitors. Staying in Grande Prairie or Peace River are also nearby options for travelers seeking a moment of respite.

Flanked by rivers and forests, the Smoky River Region offers a unique view at nature in a non-remote area. Waterfowl and Shorebirds are plentiful considering the region's position on avian flyways, and wildlife such as deer, bears and coyotes are a common sight, creating excellent opportunities for hunting.

There are a multitude of venues that serve breakfast, lunch and dinner in the region, catering to residents and visitors alike. Local cuisine is inspired by French-Canadian dishes, Prairie cuisine, and those brought by immigrants, a favourite being the Donair - Doner kebab on pita bread.

Ever since the settlement of the region, the preservation of local history and stewardship of our resources have been paramount to operation. Servicing our local communities with pride, the SRTA is a non-profit association seeking to help promote businesses and tourism online and in the field.

The Smoky River Tourism Association is committed to the development of the Smoky River Region, in the realm of granting information in regards to the local area to better help those interested. Thank you for visiting our page.
